C & L Aluminum Foundry, Inc. offers Powder Coating as an optional finish for our castings. Powder coating metal is a durable, high grade powder coating process that results in a finished product that is capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions such as extreme UV exposure, salt spray and heavy pollution.

The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The most common polymers used are polyester, polyurethane, polyester-epoxy (known as hybrid), straight epoxy (fusion bonded epoxy) and acrylics.

Powder coating is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is relatively chemically inert and will outlast anodizing in corrosive environments. Color consistency is usually better than with anodizing.
